What You’ll Learn – Term 3 Acrylic Painting with Izzy
This term, we’re going beyond the basics. Over 8 weeks, you’ll be guided through core acrylic techniques while also exploring more expressive, less conventional methods to bring your paintings to life.
Whether you’re completely new to art or have painted before, this course will deepen your confidence, creativity, and technical skill — all in a warm, relaxed studio setting.
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll discover:
🌾 Dry Brush Texture
Learn how to create scratchy, textural marks using a near-dry brush. This technique adds beautiful roughness and detail — perfect for aged surfaces, hair, or dramatic light effects.
🔪 Impasto with Palette Knife
Go bold with thick, sculptural paint! You’ll learn how to build luscious texture using a palette knife to create depth and dynamic movement in your work.
💫 Acrylic Glazing
Layer transparent washes of colour to build depth, glow, and mood without muddying your palette. Glazing is a must-learn technique for building atmosphere and richness.
🌫️ Scumbling
Create dreamy, misty overlays by dragging light paint over dark surfaces. It’s ideal for softening edges, building subtle transitions, and creating light-filled effects.
🖼 Acrylic Skin Collage
Pour thin layers of paint, let them dry into flexible “skins,” and peel them off to collage into your canvas. This technique adds unexpected layers and abstract flair to your final project.
By Week 4, you’ll begin your own Term Project — a full painting where you bring together the techniques you’ve learned to create something deeply personal and expressive.
