What to expect

In this one-hour session, your child will create a joyful, character-based artwork inspired by our Homeschool Hero — the smiling flower-crowned figure you’ll find throughout our website and studio.

Guided by Rebekah, our incredible mixed media artist and children’s facilitator, your child will learn how to sketch and personalise their own version of the character using colour, shape, and storytelling.

This is a fun, structured project designed to help children gain confidence, explore their creativity, and experience the warm, inclusive atmosphere of Wangaratta Art School.

Character Building – breaking down complex forms (like faces and hair) into easy-to-draw shapes

Colour Blocking & Layering – using oil pastels, pencils, and paint to add depth and vibrancy

Personal Style & Pattern Design – adding their own decorative elements like flowers, symbols, and clothing designs

What Our Students
Are Saying

Out of respect for privacy and in alignment with our child safeguarding policy, we do not share photographs of children from our programs — even in testimonials or promotions. All images you see are artwork-only or adult-approved visuals. Thank you for understanding and supporting our commitment to a safe and respectful studio environment.

Rebekah is a mixed media artist, passionate educator, and proud Wiradjuri woman who brings heart, humour, and creativity to every class she teaches.

With a background in art therapy and youth mental health support, Rebekah has worked with organisations like MIND Australia and the Kerferd Unit. She currently leads our Kids Drawing Club and Pangerang House programs, where her classes are often full to bursting with laughter, colour, and joy.

Children are magnetised to her energy — and it's no surprise. Rebekah blends craft, surrealism, and expressive art into projects that feel both achievable and magical. She gently encourages each child to find their unique creative voice.

At the Homeschool Taster, Rebekah will guide your child through a structured yet playful project, helping them build confidence while creating something they're truly proud of.
